Long drives may put you in the lane that leads to skin cancer. Yes, this is true. Actually, once again it has been found that left body part of those who go for long drives is more susceptible to skin cancer, for this part of the body is comparatively more exposed to scorching sun rays during long drives.
Here word ‘once again’ has been used intentionally because previous studies have also proved that left body part of those who drives on long routes is more susceptible to skin cancer due to more exposure to UV rays of the Sun.
Interestingly, our skin becomes more susceptible to skin cancer not only while we drive on long routes but also when we get exposed to UV rays through other ways. For instance, marathon running has also been linked to skin cancer, for during long hours of running our skin is quite liberally get exposed to skin cancer, increasing the susceptibility to skin cancer.

I understand prolonged and unprotected UV exposure may lead to cancer. But how do long drives contribute to it? It is the wind?
having your arm out the window.
i accept it. but how to protect it. i love long drive alone. i want to protect me from skin cancer.
SUN BLOCK, SUN BLOCK, SUN BLOCK..
I don’t understand this - why is the left side more exposed to the sun? Doesn’t that change depending on which direction you are travelling in?
Most cars (except in Europe and I don’t know where else) are driven on the left side, which would leave the left arm of the driver out of the left car window..
So does that mean you will be ok if you keep your window up? Risk factor must be particularly high amongst convertible owners.
As someone else commented just apply sun block.
